FINISHED ~ Bargello Placemats

I finally finished the placemats!!!! I machine sewed the binding on the edges and then brought it around to the back and did a fun little hidden stitch to finish. I'm so glad I can check these off my list!

So if you read previous posts about these placemats you will remember that I did three of them a few years ago. At that time I was lazy, and just wanted to see how Bargello worked. In other words, I did not seem to care about the importance of an IRON. ugh. Look at the difference.

No iron, squiggly and yucky.
(I know I cut the strips straight so I can't blame it on that.)

With an iron! Pretty!
(These two pics are supposed to be the same width strips.)

Learn from my laziness and keep your iron close to you....

FNSI ~ Bargello Placemats

I decided to do something crazy last night! I actually took out an UNFINISHED project!!! I tried these placemats a few years back and I only finished 3. Last night I finished piecing the other three!!!! Now all that is left is binding! I used the pattern from the book Bargello Quilts by Marge Edie. It was a great way to try Bargello without it being too much of a project. I definitely have some "parallelograms", but I guess that's life!!

I picked out the colors to represent the "Illini" at the University of Illinois! =)
