FINISHED ~ Bargello Placemats

I finally finished the placemats!!!! I machine sewed the binding on the edges and then brought it around to the back and did a fun little hidden stitch to finish. I'm so glad I can check these off my list!

So if you read previous posts about these placemats you will remember that I did three of them a few years ago. At that time I was lazy, and just wanted to see how Bargello worked. In other words, I did not seem to care about the importance of an IRON. ugh. Look at the difference.

No iron, squiggly and yucky.
(I know I cut the strips straight so I can't blame it on that.)

With an iron! Pretty!
(These two pics are supposed to be the same width strips.)

Learn from my laziness and keep your iron close to you....

They look wonderful to me! I have never done anything bargello! I'll keep that tip in mind for when I do!

The only time I iron is when I'm quilting. Nothing else in this house gets ironed. Aren't you supposed to be on your honeymoon?

I only iron when I'm quilting too. You know, I stacked up the placemats to put them away and the ones I didn't iron are almost 2 inches shorter!! ha! silly me. Taking the time to iron after adding each strip really helps!!

And, yes, I'm technically on my honeymoon. We started at Gramma's in the woods.... lots of reading and crafting and blogging! =) Tomorrow the 'official' honeymoon starts! But, I have tons of crafts for the car ride!
